Day 330
--
Aubrey was preparing to take a few steps in this photo. She still chooses to crawl, but has definitely made progress with walking. She takes a couple steps then sits (or falls) down. For a while she would get back up and try again. As soon as John got home though, we were trying to get her to walk from one another, but she wouldn't do it. She's closer though! So I guess she officially took her first steps today. She will be 11 months in a few days.

Took big sister to see the doctor this morning about her ear. Turns out she does have an infection (figured she did). She was in a lot of pain during the night and this morning. She is starting to feel better now that she has antibiotics and ibuprofen.
I barely slept Friday night...not sure why, and then was up early for an early derby practice Saturday morning. Saturday I barely slept because of Kenzie not feeling well, and barely slept last night for the same reason. I am so tired, I am really hoping that Kenzie decides to sleep in her own bed tonight. The only one in the house who has been well rested is this little one.

zoe (also known as, mouse mouth after today's events)
--
the dog came for a ride too. I guess this was her reward for trying to catch a gigantic mouse that was in the backyard. I swear it was a rat, but John insists it was just a big mouse. either way, I was grossed out and really do not want to see it again. zoe did actually catch it, but wasn't sure what to do with it, so let it go. it escaped through the fence into the neighbor's yard. John said it looked like zoe injured it, so hopefully it will not be coming back to our yard.

UIC Campus

I had a derby practice this morning. We did jumping drills for 2 hours. It was fun, but also a little tricky. After I got home and got cleaned up we went out for a little 2+ mile walk and ended up walking to get Jamba Juice. After spending a few hours home just chilling out, we decided to walk to the Food Truck Social that was going on a little north of us. So another 3-ish miles in the evening. It was a good calorie burning day. It was so beautiful out that we had to get out and enjoy it. We won't have many of these days left.

Puma Imani Mesh sneaker

Bought these back in June or July. They are perfect derby shoes, since I can slip them on and off easy, but they are also pretty supportive. I probably could have sized down a half size now that they are broken in, but they're still fine.

I didn't take any photos today, so sadly I am using one of the two I took yesterday for the 365.

I love black and white photography, but don't use it enough on my own photography. I rediscovered how much nicer the black and white setting is on my real camera, as opposed to the iPhone. So I think I might leave it on b&w for awhile.

Kenzie wasn't feeling well last night and into today, so it was a pretty quiet day around here. This evening she was feeling much better and was even playing with Aubrey. While Kenzie built the tower, Aubrey would either take pieces off or knock it down. Normally, Kenzie would get upset about that, but tonight she thought it was funny.
Hopefully, she'll feel better tomorrow.

Today's photo brought to you by Pabst Blue Ribbon.
Kenzie's last music class was this morning, so I went along with Aubrey. We might not be signing her up for the fall session, though she really likes it and more importantly she REALLY likes her teacher. When we were asking her if she wanted to take the class again, she very enthusiastically said "YES!". When I asked her if she would be sad if she didn't see Miss Jessica anymore, she said "Yes. She is my favorite teacher." Miss Jessica really likes Kenzie too, and John commented that she looked a little sad when Kenzie was hugging her at the end of class. So....maybe...we'll sign her up again.

Just a low-key day today. I've been feeling it all week from derby on Sunday, and then again on Wednesday. So I skipped working out yesterday and today. Probably will skip tomorrow too, since it's Kenzie's last music class for awhile and I want to try and go to it. I did go for a walk though, so it's not like I've been lounging around. Just haven't done my usual workouts. I also need to get some sewing done so I can get some things sent out and listed on etsy. I have another custom order, so need to work on that too.

228/365:2 /// after haircut
I got my hair cut today. I was getting bored of having the same style, so wanted a change. And this was it. More layers, shorter and a different shape from what I've had lately. Hopefully, it will be slightly easier to style, since perfection is not key with this cut.

I got really behind on taking photos of Aubrey, so I had to fix that today and get some shots of her wearing this little outfit. It belonged to a daughter of a friend of mine, but it was never really worn and she knew I would like it. She gave me a few things that she wouldn't be able to use with her second baby (who was just born two weeks ago and was a boy).
Hopefully, I'll get back on track with taking daily photos of Aubrey again. In less than 2 months, she'll be a year old, so I better finish this 365 with a bang!
226/365:2
All I needed was a croissant on my plate. We didn't have any at the time, but now for some reason we do.

Woke up early to register K for pre-school and soccer through the park district. Then just tried to get a lot of stuff done that needed to get done today. I have 6 pairs of baby booties that I need to finish. Two pairs are a custom order that I need to have done by Wednesday night, and one of the other four pairs also needs to get finished for an order. The other three are going up on etsy...whenever I get them finished. Hopefully tomorrow I can have everything done. I tend to procrastinate, but I hate the feeling of stuff that needs to be finished looming over my head.

It was a weekend of roller derby for me. Last night, John and I went to see The Chicago Outfit Syndicate play against the Burning River rollergirls from Ohio. Syndicate won (167 to 53). Today I went to Derby Lite's Get In Gear Day, which is basically a day to help show what Derby Lite is all about for people interested in signing up for the next session. It was fun, along with 3 hours of extra skating and a refresher course on some things we haven't done in a while (one knee falls, and falling drills in general).

3.50 mile walk yesterday afternoon with the dog and kids.
Roller skated last night for about 2 hours.
40 minutes of Zumba this morning.
30ish minute walk with the dog and kids this afternoon.
Walked to dinner in Greektown.
Stopped at the playground on the way home.
Just finished editing and uploading photos. I'm sleepy and tomorrow, I think, is going to be a rest day...unless I go out and go shopping or something.
220/365:2
I went in Kenzie's room to check on her and found her sitting on her bed among all her stuffed toys. It was too cute. I told her to stay there, and I ran to get my camera. Surprisingly, she listened, so I snapped a couple photos.

Kenzie was upstairs playing in her room, so Aubrey was able to play without being pushed around. She was doing a really good job standing and pushing this little stroller around. Look at how happy she looks.

standing
Day 307
--
She's been standing up on her own a lot more lately and several times this evening would just randomly stand up on her own. She tries to walk too when we hold her hand(s). I have a feeling she might start walking soon, but we thought the same with Kenzie and it wasn't until she was about 14 months old. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Zumba in the morning, went to the zoo in the afternoon, then a casual dinner in the evening. afterwards watched a movie and that was pretty much the day. these sunflowers survived....ours that we planted in the yard did not. Too much rain and they just got flooded out of the pot they were in.

Day 304
--
Both of the girls had doctor check-ups today. Kenzie's was her 3 year check-up and Aubrey had her 9 month, even though she technically turns 10 months tomorrow. Kenzie had to get a shot and Aubrey had blood drawn, but they were both fine afterwards. I had told Kenzie that we would go to the playground after the doctor. So we stopped at home for a late lunch and then headed over to the playground for a little while. Aubrey had fun in the swing while big sister ran around and went down the slides.

50 minutes of Zumba in the morning.
30 minutes of walking the dog while pushing the stroller in the afternoon.
2 hours of skating (working on speed and crossovers) at Fleetwood tonight.
Not to mention general parenting the rest of the day.
Phew...but it was a good day. Better than yesterday. Thankfully. Tomorrow should be interesting, since the kids both have checkups at the doctor and John won't be home in the evening since he is going to the Sox game for an employee outing. Tonight was a much needed mommy break, so I'm glad I took advantage of getting out and going skating.

212/365:2
Just an overall frustrating day dealing with the terrible three's. First K decided to have a field day playing with water in the bathroom sink while I was feeding Aubrey. So there was water EVERYWHERE. Annoying. Then at the grocery store she kept running around and I was "that" mom who kept telling her kid to get over by the cart. At one point, while we were still in the produce section (not even 10 minutes after being at the store) she sat down on the bottom part of the cart under where Aubrey was sitting. Next thing I know I hear Aubrey cry, and I look and see that Kenzie bit her on the leg! A full set of teeth marks. Fortunately, she did not break the skin. But what the hell?? I was so mad. I wanted to just up and leave the store right then and there, but we needed food. I just did my best to get the rest of the stuff on my list so we could get out of there. The minute we got home, I took Kenzie up to her room and straight to bed. Talk about frustrating. Kenzie napped for awhile, and Aubrey seems fine, but I'm going to keep an eye on her leg to make sure it doesn't get infected. Good thing we have a doctor appointment this week anyway, I guess. The rest of the day went better, but there were still bouts of Kenzie being cranky and crabby and just overall whiny. Talk about wearing you down. It's only 10 p.m., but I am ready to get to bed. I have a feeling tomorrow will be another fun day.
And it's storming, so the dog is pacing the house. I have a feeling this will be a sleepless night if the storm doesn't move on soon.

Boden ballet flats in red
--
After only buying the kids stuff from Boden, I finally gave in about a month ago and ordered a couple things for myself. There were some things I had my eye on and then with 50-60% off I couldn't really resist. I just wish I had bought more during the sale, but I didn't really know how their clothes fit and didn't want to deal with the hassle of returns. The couple things I did buy for myself I LOVE. I bought these shoes too, and wore them for the first time today since I wasn't going anywhere and I wanted to break them in a bit. I can tell that when the leather really softens up they are going to be super comfy and probably be my go-to flats.
