This morning was spent at the veterinarian's office for our dog Zoe's ear problem. Turns out she does have an ear infection. She is currently on antibiotics for a skin infection (that may be related to stress, but could also be from allergies) and this ear infection could be part of that, but could also have been aggravated from the antibiotics she is on. So trying to resolve one thing, may have caused the other. Ugh. So spent another $200 to have her checked out and now she has ear wash, and ear drops, and she has to go back in 7-10 days to make sure the infection is going away. At least while she was there she got her nails dremeled, so they look nice and aren't as long. She was pretty happy to get out of there, so instead of going straight home, we went for a little drive. I think she would have enjoyed it more had we not been at the vet earlier. Hopefully, she'll get better soon. The ear shaking is really annoying for both the dog and us.

56/365 | X is for Xylophone
X is for Xylophone
For my alphabet series.
There are not very many words out there in the English language that begin with X. So of course, I had to use the obvious. Only problem was, I didn't own a xylophone, and the only one I saw at the store to buy was this one. I didn't buy it though because I knew my parents had this at their house. Last weekend when we visited, I, of course, had to bring this home for my photo project. Kenzie loves it, and plays with it A LOT. It's fun, and she enjoys it. If she's happy, I'm happy.

Knowing my love of owl related items, my friend Theresa got this little owl for me from the MCA a couple of years ago. It sits on a shelf among all my Blythes and other collectible toys, and was perfect for my photo today.

V is for Violin
For my alphabet series.
I knew I was using the violin for the photo today, but just got a little busy and worn out with things that I didn't get a chance to take this photo until later in the day. And by then I just wasn't really in the mood for it. After Saturday, my 365 will return to just normal every day things.
Today was relatively unproductive. Didn't do too much apart from a 2 mile run on the treadmill and some minor house cleaning. I'm also finding it harder to get ready in the morning now that Kenzie doesn't sit still and watch her movies while I shower and get ready for the day. Last week I decided to see if she would just sit in the rocking chair and watch her Elmo movies. That lasted only a couple of days before she realized she could just run around and cause trouble. Today she decided she didn't want to watch her Elmo movies at all, and instead decided to eject the dvd everytime I walked out of the room. When she shut down Daddy's computer, I decided she had to just play in her room with no access to the computer. She still fits in the bouncer chair, but now she cries when I try and put her in it. So much for that.

53/365 | U is for Umbrella
U is for Umbrella
For my alphabet series.
An umbrella is somewhat appropriate today. We had rain last night, which then turned into snow. There is very light snowfall right now, but it's melting once it hits the ground. I can feel the pressure in the air though and have a slight headache. I almost always get a headache on days that look like this. Now that I have my photo for today finished, I just might take a little nap.
My husband and I were awoken at 5:00 this morning by our dog who decided she needed to shake her head and ears for almost an hour straight. She woke up early yesterday too doing the same thing. She's currently on antibiotics for something else, so maybe this is related and we should just let the pills do it's thing, but I have a feeling she might have an ear infection. It's strange though, because she doesn't walk around the house during the day doing this ear flapping thing, only in the middle of the night. Needless to say, I'm tired, and in much need of a nap. Since the baby is napping I think I will too.

52/365 | T is for Tea
T is for Tea
For my alphabet series.
Finally the last week of this project. Phew!
Today was a pretty productive day. I've been in a cleaning phase the last few days. I think it's wishful thinking for Spring to get here. I've really been trying to get things more organized, so today I cleaned out my shoe closet which is in my sewing room. I had a cheapy 4-drawer unit in that closet and it wasn't being used in the best way. So I cleaned the closet to get it out and move it into our bedroom closet. Once I did that the closet in our bedroom needed some re-organization (mostly the husband's clothes). After I started that I was on a roll and just kept going - sweeping and cleaning all around the bedroom, and even sorted out some more clothes for the throw-away pile. I hate when the house feels cluttered. I have a tendency to keep everything and throw nothing away, but over the years, I've really been trying to be better about that. It's a nice feeling getting things more organized.

51/365
I'm skipping a day with my alphabet series. Mostly because I didn't have time to take a photo of my item for the letter T. I'll get to it tomorrow.
I bought these cute little toddler ballet slippers for my daughter about a week ago. I had planned on enrolling her into a Creative Movement dance class at the dance studio near my house, and finally decided to get her enrolled tonight. So assuming the enrollment is accepted and went through, we start March 22nd. It's only a 10 week program, but I think it's perfect. It's once a week, and she'll hopefully get exposed to other kids. She loves meeting other kids and playing with them. She'll have to learn that she has to listen to the instructor and not run around the room, but I think it will be good for her. She will be 20 months when this program begins, and I think it will be a really good experience for her. I hope so at least!

50/365 | S is for Shoes
S is for Shoes
For my alphabet series.
For anyone that knows me in real life, they know that I love shoes. I have so many pairs of shoes that I sometimes forget what I have. One of my favorite brands of shoes are John Fluevog shoes. I bought my first pair sometime back in 2003 after discovering the Fluevog store in Wicker Park. I've been buying them ever since. I currently have 16 pairs. My husband even wears them, though he hasn't bought a pair in awhile and his last pairs are pretty worn out. Other shoes I love are Camper, Clarks, Converse, and, well, just about anything that is unique and fun. I've always been sort of known for my shoes, and always having unique style with them. I actually studied fashion design in college...perhaps I should have gotten into shoe design. It's definitely something I have a passion for. And as John Fluevog says, "Old friends are good friends". No matter how worn out my shoes get, it's rare that I ever just toss them away.

The sun was shining today, and it is starting to feel like Spring around here. There is still tons of snow, but it is finally starting to melt. It's amazing how many people are really lazy and don't shovel their sidewalks. I guess I shouldn't be surprised, but it is so hard to try and walk down the street pushing a stroller and walking a dog when you have to practically carry the stroller over sections of sidewalk. At some point I would like to get a jogger stroller, and maybe with those bigger wheels the snow won't be an issue. Until then, I guess I need to stick to the neighborhood streets that I know are cleared of snow.

Posting a day late. I had a bad headache last night, and just didn't feel like editing any photos. I thought maybe I needed to drink more water after working out in the morning, but I had A LOT of water throughout the day, so I think it was just a wierd weather kind of headache. Anyway, here is the letter Q.

P is for Pig
For my alphabet series.
I went out today and did a little shopping at Target. I try to avoid going there because I end up spending too much money on stuff I don't need, but I usually end up there at least once a week to pick up things like diapers, toilet paper, and paper towels. Of course, that's not all I come out with. I usually end up buying makeup I don't need, shoes I don't need, clothes I don't need, clothes the baby doesn't need and whatever else I stumble upon that I "Have to have!". Today was sort of one of those days. I only bought myself one thing, but bought the baby a bunch of clothes for the summer. She does not need any clothes, but it was all so cute, and only $4-$5 a piece. How could I resist? I even bought the husband a couple things I knew he needed, so he can't complain.

One of the many owls that are lurking around my house. This was a gift from my parents. I think we got it last year. I can't remember. Seems like we've always had it.
I'm just over halfway through my alphabet series, and I am ready to finish it. I have a list of what I need to take a photo of each day. It's nice to know exactly what I need to take a photo of, but I'm at that point where I just want to snap a picture of something that represents my day. I want to finish this project I made for myself, so just a couple more weeks and I'm done.

"Still here I sit
Minutes to go and I’m losing my cool

Valentine's Day is tomorrow. We don't really have any big plans. We're going to dinner with a couple of our friends. Nothing fancy, just something low-key. It will be good to hang out with these friends, since we haven't seem them since our New Year's party. We aren't getting a sitter, so the baby is joining us. It should be fun, just hanging out. Sometimes just spending time with the one you love is all that matters, no matter what you are doing or where you are at.

There might be a lot of snow outside, but the sun is shining. It had been a few days since I last took the dog for an actual walk, mostly because the weather hadn't been that great, partly because I didn't really want to fight pushing a stroller through the snow while walking a dog. So we went out today. And as I figured, it was a pain pushing the stroller around while walking the dog. Most people are pretty good about clearing the sidewalk, but I couldn't go through the park, and we had to stick to just the sidewalk around the park. Definitely not as much fun for the dog as she had hoped, but at least she got to go out at all.

Tuesday was my youngest brother's birthday. My parents, brother and his fiancee stopped by for about an hour before they headed to go see The Blue Man Group at the Briar Street Theatre. It's been several years since I went to see that show. I know it was something John and I did for a date back when we had first met. So I'm guessing we went sometime in 2002 or 2003. I can't believe it was that long ago already.
Anyway, apart from that I got a little behind in taking my 365 photo and getting it processed. So here it is a day late.

It is snowing outside. Chicago is under a winter storm watch. Supposedly we are going to get a foot of snow. I don't know about that though. There is a lot of snow, but not sure if we'll actually get a foot. I'd like to think that the weather people are wrong...again.
I've spent my day waiting for a delivery truck. They called yesterday to say the delivery would be between 9 and 5 today, but that they would call an hour before coming. It's 3:30 now, and still no phone call. I hate waiting around. If there is one thing I am really bad about, it is waiting. I absolutely HATE waiting. Especially for a delivery.

I am not a football fan at all, but we are leaving soon to go to a superbowl party at our friends' house. I'd much prefer to be playing music than pretending to enjoy watching the football game.
This is one of two Fender Stratocaster's that we have. This is the first one that I bought for myself. I used to play this all the time, but my husband has a Big Apple Fender Stratocaster that is a much nicer guitar than this one, so after a couple years playing this one I upgraded to playing the other one. This one might be more showy and more fun, but the other one has better sound and is actually easier to play.

Tonight we went to dinner with some friends to celebrate the birthday of one our friends. The food was great, and hanging out with our friends was fun, even if we just joined them for dinner. I don't really care about football, but we're just going to hang out with our friends for good food and drinks. I'm sure we'll all enjoy the commercials more than the actual game.

E is for Eiffel Tower
For my alphabet series.
I had to do a little photoshopping on this, since apparently children's blocks do not come with multiple letters unless they are popular letters like e, l, s, or even t. Even then, there were only 2 E's in this set, and only 1 F. This didn't quite turn out how I had hoped it would, but I didn't have time to reshoot the pictures. I'm too much of a perfectionist when it comes to processing my photos, and there are things that bother me with this, but I just need to let it go. I guess it looks just fine to a less critical eye. I was losing sunlight since it started to snow. Having a tripod helped, but I guess I needed to have a more critical eye when I was lining up the blocks to ensure that they were exactly the same as before.

35/365 | D is for Drum sticks
D is for Drum sticks
For my alphabet series.
For the first time in 4 months, I was able to freely go in my basement during the week and play my guitar. It felt really nice being able to do something that I love when I felt like it. Before the friend situation, my husband and I would go into the basement after the baby was asleep and play music together. Once we didn't have free access to our own basement, we ended up only being able to do that on the weekends. We would end up doing other stuff, or just not feel like playing music, so it usually was pushed aside. A few weeks ago I had commented to my husband that I missed being able to just go downstairs whenever we felt like it to work on songs. He agreed. You don't realize how much you miss something until you can't do it. Now that we have full access to our house again, I took advantage of it, and went downstairs to play my guitar. It had been far too long since I last played. A sure sign that is has been too long is when you forget how to play your own songs or songs that you had been playing regularly before. I might have been rusty, but I really enjoyed it. I think it's time the band starts back up. Well, the new band anyhow.
He agreed. C is for Cookies
For my alphabet series.
Things are much better today. It's so hard to believe how much you can let build up in a matter of months. A friend was staying with us since October after a job relocation. Some things happened in the last couple days that needed to happen. The way things happened, wasn't exactly how I had hoped it would go, but I don't regret it. I didn't say or do anything that didn't need to be said or done. Perhaps I should have made the problems known before it escalated to be a bigger problem, but I don't think it would have made a difference. I think feelings still would have been hurt. I tried to be what I thought was a friend, but advice and comments I made were construed as criticism. Maybe we'll talk again, but for now we need time apart. For what it's worth, there is this huge weight that was lifted off my shoulders, and my husband and I can resume the life we had with our daughter and our dog...in our house...just us.

For my alphabet series
I've been really stressed. Some personal drama, but I'm hoping things will soon be back to normal.
